This piece was painted on a tipsy $10 easel made out of dowels and a few bolts and wing nuts. We spent two weeks in a hotel waiting for our house to close in Bozeman, and I couldn't wait to pull my setup out of storage and get to work. So I rummaged together some materials and painted this in the hotel room while the kids were away at school. It was our first September in Montana and
I had been traveling all over gathering reference photos. Lara and I left the kids with family and took off to Paradise Valley for dinner and some photo time on the 'Stone. Near Pray, Montana.
